The Nerd and the Geek….
When Noah’s passion for classics lands him in a pilot class called Extra Credit for students in trouble he gets more than he bargained for—like Holly, the geeky girl he’s been crushing on who becomes his partner and friend.
Holly’s passion for computers almost got her suspended, but at least she got Noah out of it. He’s her best friend—and if he wants more she has no clue.
Together they come up with a lesson plan to help Noah get his head out of his books and Holly get her eyes off a computer screen. But it turns out there’s plenty more to learn from each other. And even the best laid plans….
Extra Credit is a New Adult series that takes place on a college campus and puts three unlikely couples together to see what happens. Each novella is in dual point-of-view with a happy ending that can be read as a standalone, though they’re better together…! The series includes sexy times that are only meant for readers over 18.
When I read the blurb, I sort of assumed that the boy (Noah) would be the Nerd and that Holly would be the Geek. But no, it was the other way around. Holly was the computer nerd, suspended for hacking into the school systems. And Noah is the awfully quiet student, who is more comfortable between the dead Romans than around girls.
So yeah, I really liked the concept, and you also get to read some of the adventures of the other student couples from the rest of the series. Noah is absolutely adorable and the way Holly keeps him on edge by blurting everything she thinks into their classroom is just too cute.
Holly is the total opposite of Noah: a self-assured girl with an attitude. The one thing she is not so sure of, is her boyfriend. They have a long distance relationship and Holly is not sure if all is well between them. So she asks Noah for help. However, since Noah is kind of falling for the headstrong Holly gets a bit lip-tied by all of her questions. I mean, what kind of question is: “When is sex actual sex? Does oral sex count? Or sexting or phone sex?” Hilarious. Especially since Holly has helped Noah becoming better with the opposite sex by having phone sex.
In all: a wonderful read. It can be read separately from the other Extra Credit books from Charlotte Penn Clark. But I think I need some extra credits as well, so I’ll start on The Partnership or The Do-Over. Four out of five stars from me.
