DESTINED FOR DOOM—OR DESIRE?
Growing up on the Isle of Moon, Brigitta knew that she was born with the magical powers of the Embraced—even if she did not know how to wield them. But she has finally learned the truth: Brigitta is the lost princess of the kingdom of Tourin. She was sent into hiding as an infant to escape the wrath of her half-brother, the king. And now he knows just where to find her. . .
Rupert is a notorious pirate and sorcerer who can harness the wind with his hands. He’s spent most of his life plotting revenge on the evil king—and Rupert believes that Brigitta could be the key to finally destroying his enemy. But what begins as a kidnapping of the innocent beauty escalates into something deeper, and more passionate, than either captor or captive could have imagined. Rupert soon vows to protect Brigitta against the king—but will they survive long enough to find their happily-ever-after. . .or does fate have something else in store?
Oh. My. God. I think I just found my newest favorite series! I had already read How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days, so I already knew Luciana and her Leo. Brigitta is an Embraced, just as Luciana and her other sisters from the convent. The story starts, when Brigitta and her sisters embark on a journey by sea to go visit Luciana.
You don’t have to read the first part to know why the sisters go to meet Luciana, but I would highly recommend it (mostly because I don’t want you to miss out on yummie Leo…).
While underway, their ship is being followed by some guards of Tourin. And just when Brigitta is (sort of) politely asked to follow the men to the King of Tourin (who turns out to be her half-brother), a very hunky and scary pirate is whisking Brigitta away. Rupert happens to have heard about the half-sister of the King and the reason the King is determined to have Brigitta in his kingdom. But Rupert has ideas of his own, to use Brigitta for his revenge against the King.
Torn between two evils, Brigitta vows to escape and flee back to her sisters. But what she didn’t realize, was the instant attraction between her and her captor, Rupert. Embraced with the gift of finding lost things, lost memories and lost feelings, Brigitta soon begins to unravel all the secrets Rupert has been hiding from everyone.
And when Rupert realizes she is more than just a pawn to get his revenge, will he be able to convince Brigitta to take his side in this quest? Or will his secrets scare her away?
Since I don’t want to spoil the story for you, I can only say: high praise for Kerrelyn! Again, a fastpaced, witty, emotional and very original story. Keep ‘m coming, I will be awaiting the next parts to see what will happen to the other Embraced sisters, starting with Gwennore in Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon. I can hardly wait! Five out of five stars from me. And a thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
About the author:
Kerrelyn Sparks is no stranger to the New York Times bestseller list, as her massive fan base couldn’t seem to get enough of her Love at Stake series. Sparks then introduced her extraordinary fantasy romance series, The Embraced, with How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days last March. Set in a medieval mythical world, the series follows a special group of people with powers born when the two moons of the world form an eclipse. Now comes the captivating second installment, SO I MARRIED A SORCERER (St. Martin’s Paperbacks; August 29, 2017), where readers meet Brigitta, our fierce and powerful new heroine.
Filled with romance, adventure, and a vividly imagined new world, SO I MARRIED A SORCERER is a fantasy in the vein of Game of Thrones with all the fun of The Princess Bride. Audiences will become enthralled with spunky Brigitta and her misunderstood captor, in a world where passion, fantasy, and royal intrigue collide. The characters have everything on the line as it is not just their relationship at stake, but their survival as well.
