Star hockey player Daniel Sacachelli wants only two things: 1) for the Falcons to win next season, and 2) for his secret — the fact he’s actually the prince of Eldonia — to never make its way to Chicago. But if Daniel keeps avoiding his crown, their family will lose their kingdom forever.
Madison Myong can’t believe that her will-they-or-won’t-they best friend Daniel is really a prince! He’s always seemed more rebel than royal. But now, he needs to clean up his image, fast. Posing as his long time girlfriend, Madison accompanies him back to Eldonia, intending to give Daniel a makeover fit for a king.
Only, the more royal Daniel becomes, the more Madison misses her best friend. And if she does her job right, she’ll lose him forever…
The blurb of this book made me think of the Princess Diaries only with the guy being the one who needed to be trained to be king. And in a way there are some similarities. But the film certainly doesn’t have the sassy sister, Evangeline (or Eva) and the stoic Boulder as a body guard.
Daniel also isn’t the real brother of Eva, he is the bastard of the king of Eldonia and his American mother. However, because females can’t assume the throne, Eva is forced to marry Lyle, Daniel’s arc nemesis or lose the kingdom. Unless Daniel assumes the throne.
But Daniel isn’t interested in taking over Eldonia. Especially since his playboy history doesn’t make him very popular in Eldonia. But when Madison offers to help him, together with Al(ice) and Hayden (from part one: Just One of the Boys), he agrees to go to Eldonia with Eva and claim his birthright.
Madison has a dream to become an actress. But she doesn’t have the right connections to get famous. Until Eva promises to help her out, in exchange of playing the biggest role in her life: as the girlfriend of Daniel. So she agrees. But is she actually acting? Or is she falling for her best friend?
A fast and easy read. Funny and warms your heart. Families and friends and all we do for them. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
